Individual and group counseling.

I offer individual counseling to all students.  They need only to sign up on the clipboard in the basket on my board.  If it's a crisis or an emergency, the student is seen immediately.  Others are called from class.

Group counseling will be conducted at various times throughout the year and include many of the topics stated above.  Many time students do really well in a group counseling setting, as they realize they are not the only one dealing with difficult issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: There will be times when a student is in need of more that our services offer, or a parent may prefer that their child receive                                                          services outside of the school district.  I will gladly refer you to an outside agency.  Many of the agencies are listed on the                                                             "Resources" page of the website.

Please know that some of the outside agencies do charge and payment is the responsibility of the family.  Many of these                                                              agencies offer assistance or bill on a sliding scale.  Please ask them for information regarding fees.

Guidance Classes.

It's a joy to be in the classroom to offer guidance lessons on issues that are relevant to their age.  Some of the issues we tackle are: Bullying, Healthy Relationships, Your Future Now, Drug/Alcohol abuse, Making Good Choices, Internet Safety, etc..

I am always open to new ideas.  If there are issue your child is dealing with, please let me know.  It may be a great idea for a new guidance lesson!

Crisis Prevention/Crisis Response.

In the unfortunate event that a crisis or emergency occurs, SJHS will react in a manner that put your child's safety first.  Once the school is positive your child is safe, parents will be notified.  If needed, outside agencies will be called in to meet the needs of students, such as our Region 13 Education Service Center Crisis Counseling Staff
